Pre Challenge enjoyment in Edinburgh WEDNESDAY 27 OCTOBER Edinburgh - Overnight Edinburgh Ramada Jarvis. So much to see and do here, an ideal start to a Scottish trip, we will be meeting up with fellow curlers coming for the Challenge, we are also staying at the Ramada with you, we dare not let curlers lose in our capital without a Scot to guide them, we may not see them again! Forever sitting in an Edinburgh pub. Curl up with a Dewar's whisky in an armchair in the Princes (hotel) Bar and catch views of Edinburgh Castle.THURSDAY 28 OCTOBER Edinburgh - another great day of sightseeing here in Edinburgh. A day of capital sightseeing and glorious pubs - for food of course! Liz will be joining us today, although we have no official agenda today, we are sure to possibly drop into a local pub en masse! We have been asked "Are you going to run this competition again?" Well, due to demand, Liz and Paul are seriously considering running this challenge again either next year or in 2012, details later. Let us know what YOU think after this year. If we do run it again, it will be BIGGER, MORE WHISKY, SIGHTSEEING, MORE TEAMS!

The 2010 "Lion Challenge" Scottish Curling and Whisky
"Lion Challenge"? in 2010, Perth celebrates 800 years as a Royal Burgh. The foundation of Perth as a Royal Burgh dates back to the King William the Lion charter of 1210. Provost Hulbert marked the 800 day countdown ( on 24th October 2007 ) with a rare appearance of the Royal Burgh Charter awarded to Perth in 1210 by King William the 1st, known as William the Lion, who ruled from 1143 to 1214. Curling teams have been invited to compete in the "Lion Challenge" in PERTH. This is a fun challenge, two days of sightseeing in Edinburgh and two days of curling, whisky and fun. The Tournament will be played in a ‘Round Robin’ format which will allow every team to play in each session. The winning team will be the one which gains the most points (2 for a win), and the greatest number of shots (in the event of a tie). The Challenge Event will be managed and run by Willie Auld, Perth.
