What is there here? We have three castles, a palace, museum, historic buildings dating as far back as 1393 still standing! Superb council chambers with wonderful stained glass windows, St John’s Kirk from the 15th century, highland games, old graveyards full of ancient history, the place where King James VI was almost assassinated, the smallest city in the world (we are between two inches), the Black Watch Regimental Museum, horse racing at Scone Palace – very popular with jockey’s and punters alike! Fantastic architecture and a stunning Conference Centre. Add all of this to the fact we are an hour from Edinburgh or Glasgow, two from Loch Ness & Oban, the Trossachs is a wee drive, as is Rob Roy MacGregor’s grave at Balquhidder! St Andrews is 40 minutes drive, not only that we have golf courses galore within 20 minutes, including Gleneagles. And of course Perth Amber Festival with Dougie Maclean. Not only do we have some of the best scenery in Scotland, but in Perthshire alone we have five whisky distilleries you can visit, from the oldest working to the smallest in the country! Highland Games abound around every corner, history lies waiting for you to discover it, the oldest living thing in Europe - come and find out what (no, it's not myself)! Did I mention Golf? ![]() The "Lion Challenge" Perth 2010 Curling & Whisky tour of Scotland Curling teams, groups and individuals are invited to compete in the "Lion Challenge" in PERTH. This is a team event - mixed teams welcome. This is a fun challenge, we are not looking for the next world champion! Trophy for the winning team and medals for all. Two days of curling, whisky and fun or 4 days if you also book for Edinburgh. We can assist with as many extra days as you wish to add on.

We are a consistent Beautiful Britain award winner, showing a strong commitment to the environment and the city’s streets and public gardens are filled with colour from Easter to autumn. Perth sits on the River Tay, Scotland's longest river. Excellent shopping, eating out, entertainment, culture and heritage, sport and leisure and gardens all within the city centre. EVENTS IN 2010 THE LIST The foundation of Perth as a Royal Burgh dates back to the King William the Lion charter of 1210. Provost Hulbert marked the 800 day countdown ( on 24th October 2007 ) with a rare appearance of the Royal Burgh Charter awarded to Perth in 1210 by King William the 1st, known as William the Lion, who ruled from 1143 to 1214. The programme of events and activities is being created for all to enjoy and participate in with the focus on a series of themes including our heritage, our future, our communities, culture and sport, the economy as well as a civic programme.
