29 July; head for Rannoch Moor and Glencoe. A drive into the wilderness and very historical.   End your day in the Great Glen, Fort Augustus staying overnight at Carn a Chuilinn, Golf Course Road. 30 July;  another day exploring the local area, we will of course give ideas in our tour notes.  31 July; leave this morning through the superb mountain range 5 Sisters to the road bridge to Skye, possible a visit to Eilean Donan here?  Driving through Skye, staying at the Ferry Inn at Uig. 1 August; another day exploring Skye, och I wish I were coming too (Paul).

2 August; take the early ferry to Harris, then explore the local area and end the day at Loch Roag Guest House 22a Breasclete, Lewis located only two miles from the Callanish Standing Stones. What a grand location to stay! Ensure you are near the stones at sunset or sunrise for a grand visual experience!  Best Tip of the day. 3 August; another day touring the wonders of Lewis, staying overnight at Loch Roag.

6 August; driving north to Durness, what fantastic scenery you will see, from Smoo Cave to Cape Wrath, walking and driving, even sitting doon, your mouths will drop open at the stunning scenery up here on Scotland's roof. Staying at MacKays Hotel owned and managed by Robbie and Fiona Mackay who have painstakingly renovated and restored the 150-year-old Hotel, provide their guests with that little bit extra in highland elegance. Two more days here; 7 and 8 August to enjoy the roof of the world!

9 August; driving east today towards Dornoch, where you spend the next few days (10 and 11 August included). So much to see and do here to keep you busy, scenery, history and visits (Dunrobin castle is well worth it). Staying at; Kyleview House  Evelix Road, Dornoch.

12 August; departing Dornoch heading south, exploring en route then stay at Coig na Shee (shown right), Fort William Road, Newtonmore. A nice wee highland town next to Kingussie, good shops, places to dine and explore the ruins of Ruthven Barracks, clan museum and much more.

13 August; drive a short distance to Weem where the Menzies are Gathering! Your hotel is The Weem Hotel, enjoy your Gathering over the next few days.

16 August; aye well, all good things come to an end! Drive  to Glasgow, drop off car and stay for your final night at the Ramada Hotel Glasgow Airport. A fond farewell and a haste ye back!

28 July; the second day, sadly Liz and Paul will head home. Our suggestion for today is to drive to Kilmartin Glen, se and touch 5000 year old ancient standing stones, burial cairns, Templar graves, village pub and kirk.  Then head towards Oban and perhaps a trip across the Atlantic? Seriously, if this is on the wish list, we can do it!!!   Then Oban, seafood capital of Scotland and Paul's home toon.  Relax here, maybe a distillery tour and returning via St Conan's Kirk at Loch Awe, a superb visit to a unique kirk - highly recommended. Overnight in Inveraray again.

4 August; take the ferry from Stornoway to Ullapool. A pleasant sail with superb scenery all day.  Arrive into Ullapool and drop your luggage at Ardvreck House in the Moorfield area of Ullapool.  Possibly visit the ruins of Ardvreck Castle, shown below, as featured in the movie Highlander. 5 August; another day exploring around Ullapool.
